Roaming the National Mall in Washington DC

Week 68

Day 473

Mount Vernon, WA

48.4200° N, 122.3261° W

Family and a wedding brought me to DC this fall.

I was lucky to catch the tail end of fall before all the colors were gone.

In a very jam packed long weekend, I was able to steal away an afternoon in which I headed to Dupont Circle to hit up a Yoga class and then headed to the National Mall for a walk through the park.

When I was little we lived in DC for 5 years while my Dad served at the Pentagon.

Growing up in DC you definitely take all the history at your fingertips for granted, but after spending a year abroad learning about other countries traditions and roots I had a new respect for the history memorialized.

The National Mall is one of the few things left in the world that is free to see.

Strolling from monument to monument is like walking through an out door museum.

Park on Ohio Street along the Potomac River for free parking! 🙂
